Profitable From Day One Bootstrap

Profitable From Day One Bootstrap – I collaborated with my friend Jon Bud (a software developer) to start Transistor.fmtogether. It is a podcast hosting and analytics platform.

Our podcast is called Build Your SaaS. We wanted to share the journey of what it’s like to be a startup founder now, in 2019. Every week we record a call where we talk about what we’re struggling with and what we’re working on.

I’ve been podcasting since 2012 (I started a show called Product People where I interviewed startup founders). I have been listening to podcasts since 2007.

Bootstrap Marketing For Small Businesses In 2021 • Lemon Squeezy

We had a lot of motivation to start building your SaaS. Since we have a podcast platform, we wanted to use our product on a daily basis. But even more: we wanted to talk honestly about what it’s like to start a business.

Receive a weekly email where podcasters share their creative podcasting experiences. Stay informed and inspired, for free.

Since then, we’ve managed to release an episode almost every week. We’ll generally shoot on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and then Chris (our editor) will edit it on Monday so we can release it on Tuesday.

Finding time to record is a real challenge. Right now it’s Friday night or weekends (which isn’t ideal). It is ideal if we record on Thursday during the day. We hope to come when we are both working full time on Transistor.fm.

We currently have two ads per month. Everyone gets two ads at the beginning and two ads in the middle of the video. Each place costs $250 a month, so a total of about $500 a month.

We get about 13,500 downloads every month (although last month we had a big jump to 25,000). Overall, the episode has 2,143 downloads in the first 30 days.

A huge benefit for Jon and I as co-founders is that our podcast keeps us on the phone every week.

It also connects us with many customers. Other companies listen to our podcast and think, “I should do that too.”

When we’re done, we drop our individual audio tracks into Dropbox and Chris selects them for editing.

I built a large personal following on Twitter and in my newsletter before the show launched. That really helped get the first word out.

I’ve set up an automatic email campaign that automatically sends out our show list every time we post a new episode (here’s how to do it: transistor.fm/automatic-podcast-email ).

We have a social share link that automatically shares on Twitter (which is where a lot of our audience is).

Was Bootstrapping Our Startup A Good Decision? Find Out

It depends on your program, but to get noticed, you generally need to be first, different, or better.

A way to differentiate yourself? Share your story in a transparent and vulnerable way. There are a lot of people who put on their professional “radio voice” and try to sound really put together. But podcast listeners want to connect with real, human stories.

What is a listening score? Listen Score (LS) is a metric that shows the estimated popularity of this podcast compared to other public RSS-based podcasts in the world on a scale of 0 to 100. The higher, the more popular. Calculated from 1st and 3rd party data. Updated monthly.

What is the global ranking? This podcast is one of the 3,028,839 most popular programs worldwide, ranked by listening score (estimated popularity score). Some are stuck in a cycle of paying off debt or medical bills that would stop if they could just get ahead of themselves a little. Others are in a situation with no clear way out. Some did not limit their spending.

The trick is to choose a pace that fits your life, your family, your likes and dislikes, and your other responsibilities.

Busy managers and entrepreneurs need someone to handle and track the small details so they can focus on the big picture. Thanks to the Internet, these participants no longer have to be physically close to the people they visit.

The type of help you provide depends on the gig you get. Virtual assistants organize electronic documents, manage scheduling and communications, post on social media, conduct research, edit emails, and perform many other office tasks.

These ride-sharing apps allow regular people to earn extra money by turning their vehicles into taxis. This could be the perfect gig if you enjoy driving and meeting new people.

However, it is not without barriers to entry. Both companies require a late model vehicle and adhere to strict requirements for safe driving. The details vary by city, but you must demonstrate that riders’ experiences with you will be safe and positive.

If you know how to do something exciting or valuable, you can share those skills online in many different ways. Common single entry options include:

Despite the wide variety of options, the basic concept remains the same. From playing the kazoo to which rivers are best for rafting to scrapbooking tips, you know something and you teach others about it. This can be especially fun because you’re making money doing what you love.

Back in the day, almost anyone could make a few extra bucks part-time delivering pizza for their local Domino’s or Papa John’s. This model began to spread in the last decade and exploded in the contactless era of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apps like DoorDash and GrubHub work on the same model as Uber, but you deliver food to people. The pay is lower than Uber and Lyft, but the barriers to entry are also lower. Food delivery companies don’t care that much about safe driving or a newer, cleaner car.

People love their pets, but many do not have enough time to take care of them. They need dog sitters, pet sitters, pet handlers and similar tasks and are willing to pay someone to do it.

One of the nice things about this side hustle is that you can often double dip. If they agree, walking three dogs doesn’t take three times as much effort or time as walking one dog, but it pays three times as much.

This gig can be hard to get, but the referrals will come when you do a good job taking care of the owner’s pets.

You might think that you have to be multilingual to make money teaching a language online, but you would be wrong. You are reading this blog in English, which means you speak English. Millions of people around the world want to improve their English skills.

Online language platforms like Preply and FluentCity connect students with tutors for distance learning. You can earn money while making friends in exotic locations.

The opportunities for this side hustle don’t end with the basic cleaning/bathroom cleaning service. Landlords need to clean apartments and rental houses thoroughly between clients. Professional organizers hire cleaners to handle the first steps of big jobs. Real estate agents need clean and tidy homes.

No matter what type of cleaning you like the most or hate the least, you can find someone to hire to do it for you.

Online tutoring and learning platforms like TutorMe and BuddySchool connect experts with students who need help. The great thing about the side hustle is that you don’t have to be an expert on complex topics. You can still help second graders with multiplication if you never got past high school algebra.

While you can manage this on your own, the easiest way is through online tutoring platforms that connect you with students and pay you most of what the students pay them. You set your times, topics, and expectations and let them take care of the logistics.

If you have something that someone needs or wants, you can rent it out for a profit. Renting out a room in your home or renting out a property on Airbnb are the most popular options, but they’re just the beginning. Other examples include renting:

Online errand apps like TaskRabbit can also be considered a form of this side hustle. In such cases, you are renting yourself and your time.

Lessons Learned: From Google To Building A Profitable Startup

The concept is simple: find collectibles for sale at a low price, then sell them at a higher price to people who value them. The most successful collector fins use one of three models.

Some hair sales, estate sales, and online marketplaces to find valuable collectibles for sale at a bargain price. They then post them online to sell at a higher price.

Some look for high-priced items sold in large groups or series, often online or at estate sales. They then sell the winning pieces at a profit and the more common batches of goods at or slightly higher.

Some buy damaged collectibles and then painstakingly restore them. After repair, they can fetch a price far higher than the cost of purchase and repair.

Some people need repairs in their homes but lack the skills. Some have the skills but don’t have the time. They both need someone to come fix things, but they don’t want to pay the price of a plumber, electrician or carpenter.
